The composer is from Texas and is well familiar with the summer thunderstorms that sweep in seemingly out of nowhere with their awesome fury and crop-sustaining rain. This work for concert band portrays the lifecycle of a storm rolling in over the plains. From the first isolated drops of rain, to the earth-shaking peals of thunder, to the last few drops of rain after the storm has passed, this work presents a challenging workout for a concert band and its conductor.
